I do want to watch season 2. I didnt like this one, (Im watching this series in order I actually much prefer the war in a pocket show). Its too over the top for me. And I watched the iron blooded ophans. that also had a lot of super powered crazy moments, but I cared about those characters more so went ehy went crazy I was there! I think the characters in this are too weak and underdeveloped at least in season 1 from what I saw. I liked the losing limbs stuff, it was sad and touching but the main guy didn't seem care too much. The character from ophrans was like that too just using his body for war and losing himself but it was WAYY more felt to me. I guess the whole 4 ep mini show didn't feel good enough for me maybe with a longer streach would help me care about these people.

The only reason I kept watching it is I thought it was going somewhere. They wanted this show to be zoomer's intro to Gundam and I thought all of the show up until the last few episodes (where I found out it was just ending there) was going for a slow burn on setting up a more 'proper' Gundam conflict that would also fit into the themes of coming of age: -I thought Prospera was going to be the 'disc one final boss'. She gets defeated, but the ensuing chaos and damage her revenge quest creates turns the delicate web of corporate politics on its head and creates a ripple effect of chaos. The villain is defeated yet all hell break loose. -Guel and Miorine take over their parents job as respective CEO and whatnot....and now their arc in season 2 is coming to term with the fact that, for all their naive childish rebellious side, they still ended up in the same place as their old man. They try to balance their responsabilities with trying to make the world a better place/help the rest of the cast that is fighting in their mechs from behind the scenes. -Suletta has to come to term she was never really a 'person' so far but just a cloned puppet of her mom. Thus Suletta being a wet fart of a character who does nothing get recontextualized and she has to deal with all of this and grow as a person. -Delling come back...and is the new bad guy, because its what the prologue had set him up to be. Now I don't really know wtf his plan would have been or what he would have done, but now Season 2 would have seen a reversal with Miorine being the one dealing with her father being the antagonist, much like how for Suletta it was her mother. That's where I thought this show was going, but nope. It just...ended. In a wet fart. There was potential for a meaningful story with theme there and it was all fucking wasted for a bullshit rushed ending where things just happen for no reason.

Now just imagine if they took all of these stories, and did a "Mobile Suit Gundam: One Year War - Master Report" - Full remake by the same people and at the same quality as Gundam Unicorn. incorporating the various MSV, working the side stories into a wider narrative. The way I imagine it is actually like lot like what you did here but on a much grander scale, framed as an in-universe retelling of events much later after the fact - and that detail could also serve as an excuse for the inevitable discrepancies that would occur. God, I can dream. More on point, this was a lot of fun, but I really do wish you'd talked a little bit about just the immediate aftermath of the war - what happened to Side 3, how it become the puppet state that was the Republic of Zeon, that sort of thing.

Witch from mercury was a show that could have had it all but instead we ended up with just a " Yuri " show (they keep flip floping with them being gay or not). The writing was piss pore, there was no real politic or company plays. Earth was beyond irrelevant, the academy served nothing and did nothing. The characters are paper thin with the best character being the guy with the partial pink hair. The show clearly lack time it should have been a 3 season. - Season 1: Focus on the academy (chalanges etc...) - Season 2: Focus on the politic and company as well as the earth. - Season 3: Focus on taking down the mother sacrificing gun-bit technology in doing so.

Gundam Seed is a true op protagonist power fantasy like many isekai anime.

Man this series is so daunting, I even had to take breaks from this synthesis.. Thank you so much for the video it helps a lot to understand Universal century, shame they will never remake it in a cool but respectful way, also including the other substories, like slave wraiths, and other Gundam and also including your favorite Zeon officer, weird whoever did it before was so tone deft about that character, at this point is not like they did not know.

Love the gundam design but i couldnt get passed 3 episodes, and i thought episode 0 was solid, like damn its going to be like that! than got whatever this was. If other people enjoyed it, awesome glad you did, going to wait for the next gundam project they work on

I think what gundam seed is good at is actually making emotional scene spectacular but once you try understanding the story is where it falls apart.

The prologue was false advertisement. Basically nothing it set up was paid off in the actual show. And the epilogue with its "the status quo post ante bellum will be reinstated after some time so nothing will change for society" was the final nail in the coffin for me. What was the point of the show? I didn't find one.

My first Gundams were Wing, 08th MS, War in the Pocket, SD Force, and some scattered episodes of G. I loved Wing a lot back in the day, but once I started watching more Gundam shows, Wing lost its magic and for me it hasn’t aged well. I hate the series’s take on Pacifism, the Sanc Kingdom is genuinely worse than Orb from Seed (and for the record, I hate Orb). Wufei is easily the worst of the Wing boys, he’s almost never paired up with the other Wing boys and his motivations make less sense than the others, especially in Endless Waltz. I do like Trieze as an antagonist, I’m less of a fan when he kinda becomes a good guy later. I also like Zechs, when he’s still wearing his mask. They basically took Char’s story from 0079, Zeta, and CCA and tried to speed run it with Zechs, and for me it just doesn’t work. It feels like he was made the White Fang leader just so we could have a proper final boss fight cuz Trieze isn’t really the bad guy we started with in the early half of Wing. As far as the mechs go, I used to love Zero and Epyon, but nowadays I think they’re some of the most overrated machines in the franchise. The grunts are rather bland and while I respect the humble Leo, that poor guy may as well be made of tissue paper. Honestly the only machines I particularly like from Wing these days are the Taurus, the Tallgeese, and Heavyarms custom. I also dislike how the villains keep changing in Wing, first its the Earth forces, then Trieze and OZ, then the Romefeller Foundation, then Trieze becomes his own faction, then colonies and White Fang. Oh and yes, the plot armor… how in the fuck did Heero survive Wing Gundam exploding when he was literally standing on it when it exploded and left a pretty large crater? 😅 I still have some nostalgia for wing and it did help make Gundam popular in the west, but I’m not gonna pretend it’s a good Gundam anime. It really needed more time in the oven

I watched and LOVED this series. Put all the B.S. Gender Agenda/LGHDTV crap aside and what stands out is a fantastic show. A show about a young pilot that gets consistently used, lied to and mentally abused.... From all that she takes charge and stands a fight and eventually finds that victory. "Move forward, gain two. Run, you gain one". The point of the show is just that.

I agree with the plot armor. Hero is made of the same alloy the gundams are to be able to jump from a building, roll through a cliff and walk it off, then in another episode take the gundam self destruct explosion to the chest and live.
